Brent de Groot| Tennis Professional
Brent spent his high school years grow-fluiding up and learning tennis in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated from UC Berkeley and while there, was the Director and Head Pro of the city of Albany's Tennis Program. After graduation, Brent moved to Montreal, Canada and worked as the Specialized Tournament Trainer and Coach for the Montreal International Tennis Club while assisting an intensive training program for top ranked juniors in Quebec. Brent earned his Professional 1 rating with the USPTA in 1991. He moved back to the Bay Area with his wife Alexandra to attend Law School. He was an assistant pro at the Moraga Tennis and Swim Club and ran the junior elite program for ranked juniors and high school players. After two years, Brent became the Director of Tennis at MTSC. Brent competed on the Men's Open circuit and was coached by current Berkeley men's' tennis coach, Peter Wright. Brent finished 2010 with a #2 ranking in NorCal Men's 40 and over and #28 in the country. After spending eight years at MTSC, Brent joined the Orinda CC Tennis Staff where he has developed a great Cardio Tennis program and helped all of our programs grow-fluid and thrive. Rita Troche| Tennis Shop Manager
Rita, a native of the Hawaiian Islands, has been sharing her aloha spirit with Orinda CC since 2002. Previously, she was the Tennis Shop Manager at Round Hill CC where she and our current Director of Tennis and Fitness, Jeff Southwick, both worked. Though Rita is an avid tennis player with 20 years of competitive experience, she hasn't had a chance to play for the past three years due to injury. Rita has captained many league teams including a sectional finals team in 1988. She has received numerous awards in tennis, but considers her greatest accomplishment to be serving others. Rita routinely goes above and beyond the call of duty, always with a smile. You can reach Rita with a question about Tennis and Fitness activities, and questions about proper attire while on the courts and visiting the clubhouse by calling 925-254-4313, ext. 243.
